Karl Lagerfeld says...WHAT?!

Lagerfeld says Adele is "too fat".

May I please say that Lagerfeld is "too weird" "too preserved" "too plastic" and "has too powerful a voice to use it to say such stupid things".

Now I love fashion, I love clothes, I love to dream of couture and pretty shiny things but that is just wrong. The pursuit of insane thinness in an attempt to be what we see on the runway and in magazines has caused so many women such grief. Is this really necessary?

Mr. Lagerfeld, please get over your own overblown self. Adele is gorgeous. You are... not.

Thankful to be Canadian...?

So... the more I learn about the US the happier I am to be Canadian. Why? I have absolutely nothing, truly nothing, against Americans as individual mothers, fathers, sons and daughters. I have nothing against the concept of the pursuit of happiness etc. etc. What I have so much trouble with is the "me first" attitude that seems so prevalent in the press. Actually, I am confused by the dramatic difference between what I believe to be true American values (see Oprah magazine, see Ellen's guests, see whatever other television pap I am absorbing) vs. the kind of insane, nonsensical Tea Party fascist blather that smacks me upside the head whenever I look at the American online news presence.
Having said all that "happy to be Canadian", I have to confess that today I am not so proud of Canada. I was just devastated today to learn of the closure of the CAT plant in Ontario. How ironic that the very same company who offered their employees a spectacular 50% salary and benefits take it or leave it deal on January 1 held a hiring fair today in Indiana....
Sigh.
So US, Smooess. Canada Schpamada. It's all the same. It's all a bunch of rich folks climbing over the rest of us trying to make a few more bucks. Makes me kind of ill, actually.
So...perhaps I need to do some research on Sweden?
